Houston’s Hen House was incorporated in 2006 in an old 1800’s piano factory turned retail. Originally in a 2,200 square feet corner space, it was difficult for customers to find the shop even with extensive advertising. Eventually we moved into a space that was viewable as soon as you came up the stairway.  The downside... it was 500 square feet smaller. We had a blow out sale to move merchandise out the door to enable us to fit into the smaller space. One year later, the demand for dealer space was creating a dilemma. We didn’t have the space. Not wanting to disappoint dealers or customers, we blew out a wall to increase the square footage. WOW, have we grown since then!

Month-by-month we began growing. We now are Ogle County’s largest antiques, collectibles and upscale resale shop with over 18,000 square feet available for you shopping pleasure. We increase our multi-dealer space by the month and our consignments are quickly beginning to outnumber our dealers.

The shop proprietor, Linda Houston, has been busy since day one making her dream of running a family-owned multi-dealer shop come to reality. Her corporate business administration skills have come in handy with handling the administration end of the business. She’s been able to finally tap into her entrepreneurial skills to create business even in these economically trying times. She welcomes customers and dealers with a gusto of positiveness that makes them continue to return to her fabulous shop and become a life long friends.

Stop in to see her Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 to 4:30 and Sunday 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Accommodations can be made for special groups.
